Twin Arrows Resort and Casino

Flagstaff, Arizona

The 315,000 square-foot resort includes two-five story hotel towers, casino, conference center, pool, and gourmet and casual dining. ATEK performed special inspections for the structural concrete foundations and slabs, structural masonry, high strength bolts, field welded connections, and spray-applied fireproofing. ATEK was the responsible engineer for these inspections, coordinating with building official, structural engineer, general contractor, and owner’s representative to ensure the referenced project was constructed in accordance with the approved project documents.

CRIT Juvenile Detention Facility

Parker, Arizona

The new 15,000 square-foot juvenile detention facility included steel and masonry construction for the primary structure, supported on a sixteen inch thick mat foundation. The project is located in a seismic sensitive area requiring a significant amount of earthwork preparation. Inspections performed by ATEK included earthwork mass grading observations, asphalt observations, field density testing, reinforced concrete, structural masonry, high strength bolting and structural steel services.

Ak‐Chin Justice Center & Firing Range

Maricopa, Arizona

The facility is approximately 54,300 square feet that includes tribal courts, police, and detention facilities into one single-story complex. Additionally, the project includes a 7,200 square foot indoor shooting range constructed from structural steel and masonry. ATEK was responsible for performing construction materials testing and special inspection services on the project including asphalt concrete, structural concrete, structural masonry, structural steel and welding, and all laboratory testing.

Kayenta Multipurpose Justice Center

Kayenta, Arizona

During Phase I, ATEK performed materials testing and inspection observations during mass grading for the new 53,000 square-foot detention facility and 13,700 square-foot support building. ATEK was selected by the Navajo Nation’s Department of Corrections during Phase II to provide special inspections and materials testing for structural masonry, reinforced concrete, structural steel welding and high strength bolting. Materials testing services included compressive strength testing for concrete and masonry, and asphalt testing to verify conformance with project specifications.

Northern Edge Casino

Upper Fruitland, New Mexico

The 85,000 square-foot structural steel facility includes a casino floor, convention space and dining areas. ATEK was selected to provide special inspections on the primary frame of the structure including high strength bolted connections (snug tight and slip critical), field welded connections, structural masonry and spray-applied fireproofing.

GRIC District 3 Residential Youth Homes

Sacaton, Arizona

The project includes construction of a 19,500 square foot community building and six residential structures ranging in size from 4,530 to 4,950 square feet. ATEK provided geotechnical engineering recommendations, and provided special inspection and materials testing services during the construction phase. Inspections performed included mass grading observation and testing, reinforced concrete, structural masonry, field welding, high strength bolting and asphalt testing.

Pascua Yaqui Education Center

Tucson, Arizona

The nearly 40,00 square foot, two-story education center will provide instruction for multiple generations of community members including secondary students, GED and adult continuing education students. ATEK’s responsibility included performing special inspections on the Exterior Insulated Finish System (EIFS).

Hampton Inn

Scottsdale, Arizona

A new four-story, 64,000 square-foot hotel constructed adjacent to the Talking Stick Resort accommodates additional patrons who wish to stay near the spring training facility and resort. ATEK’s responsibilities included performing materials testing and special inspections on high strength bolted connections, structural welding, reinforced concrete, structural masonry and mass grading operations. Additionally, ATEK was responsible for performing laboratory testing including concrete compressive strength, sieve analysis, plasticity index, Proctor, hot-mix asphalt testing and masonry prism testing.
